INS Innovation Ltd (INS) is a premier provider of specialist nuclear engineering and design services in the UK and is focused on providing engineering solutions throughout the nuclear fuel cycle, for waste management, clean-up and defence.

We operate throughout all stages of the project life cycle, from front-end inception through to delivery of a given solution including design, equipment supply, site installation and commissioning.

Our main areas of expertise / activity include:

  • Support to the commercial operating facilities associated with fuel fabrication and spent fuel reprocessing activities

With over 25 years´ experience and a team of circa 300 nuclear engineers, INS is committed to delivering cost-effective, quality and safety driven solutions.

Our Head Office in Manchester comprises a design studio and two assembly, development and test workshop facilities.  We also have Design Engineering Offices at Birchwood, Risley and at Westlakes, Sellafield.

INS is fully aware of  the issues and constraints associated with undertaking projects on nuclear licensed sites and the implications this has on design.  We operate a documented quality management system compliant with ISO 9001:2000 and have recently been accredited with the Environmental standard ISO 14001. 

INS Innovation has again been successful at the annual RoSPA Awards in 2007.  We have won a silver award for the management of Road Risk (MoRR) and a Sector Award in the Commercial and Business Services sector.   INS has received five RoSPA awards in the last three years.

INS Innovation has a strong Project Management, Process, Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineering capability in addition to our Analytical resource. This allows integrated solutions to be provided from inception through detail design to the supply and setting to work of plant and equipment either through stand alone contracts, integrated client teams and alliance / partnering arrangements.

INS is a member of the ACCORD Alliance which is a highly skilled multi-disciplinary engineering design alliance created to support Sellafield Ltd in the provision of engineering design serices.  The ACCORD alliance is led by AMEC, INS Innovation and DGP International (now part of the Scott Wilson Group), and supported by four other suppliers that include Morson Projects, Capula, White Young Green and REMAC.
